San Mateo
This small village in the municipality of San Antonio is located in Pla d’Albarca, an expansive agricultural plain dedicated to the predominant cultivation of grapevines. Its wine festival is deservedly famous amongst locals. The tiny village basically consists of a small school, a couple of restaurants, a whitewashed church with thick walls, a bell tower on its corner and a porch with arches, and a few houses scattered around.
The pla is a landscape that is distinctive due to the reddish colour of its farmlands, and the road that goes around it offers panoramic views of the local environment, which is covered with lush forest.
