Sal Rossa Watchtower

On a rocky promontory at the far end of Playa d’en Bossa, an old watchtower stands out against the skyline, the Torre de Sa Sal Rossa, also known as the Torre des Carregador. It is located within the Las Salinas Natural Park and is part of the 18th century defensive network. In addition to being used for surveillance, it later served as a potential refuge for the local population, in case of attack.

It has two floors with vaulted ceilings and a chimney that was used to warn of an enemy presence in the nearby waters. On the other side is the Xanga, a pretty cove with some shipyards near to the remains of a Roman road.
