Sant Francesc: Natural heritage

On the road that leads to Ibiza’s salt flats, alongside the salt ponds, there is a small church along with a couple of other buildings.

San Francisco is quite possibly the least urban area imaginable. The simple church was built to provide religious services to the salt workers. Next to the church is the Ses Salines interpretation centre, which stresses the importance of the area’s flora and fauna. On the outskirts there is a small wooden platform for watching the birds that visit the salt ponds and a bronze sculpture of a salt worker.
